Our story

Hutten was founded 95 years ago by the Hutten family, with the aim of adding value to colleagues, clients, guests and society. Grandfather Jan Hutten devoted all his attention to baking the finest bread, his son Piet was an exceptional chef, and under the leadership of Bob, Hutten grew into a nationwide provider of food, drinks and hospitality services.

Over the decades, we have built our company and expertise step by step, always carrying forward the very best that time has taught us. Contributing to people’s happiness has always been the guiding principle in everything Hutten does. In the past and still today.

Jan and Marietje Hutten start a bakery/grocery shop
1962
Piet takes over café-restaurant Hutten from his father
1980
Café-restaurant Hutten adds a new activity: party catering
1994
Bob, Piet’s son, starts a business catering service
2009
We launched our sustainable in-house label to track products from farm to fork
2015
We take over the bakery from Kentalis Compas. In our social bakery, our bakers make the tastiest biscuits
2016
We launch De Verspillingsfabriek to reduce food waste in the Netherlands.
2021
Hutten and MPS Food & Design have joined forces. MPS will continue as an independent brand within Hutten.
2022
Hutten and Sign Language Coffee Bar have entered into a partnership. Here, baristas with hearing impairments work. This collaboration aligns with Hutten’s mission: providing workplace opportunities for people who are distant from the labour market.
2023
MPS Food & Design and Hutten Meetings & Events continue under the name: Hutten Ffood & design
2024
On November 12, we joined forces with Albron under the parent organisation Hai.
