Apple pie base

How to prepare it

The dough 

  1. Dissolve the yeast in lukewarm milk. 
  2. Cut the peeled apple into 1 cm cubes and sprinkle with lemon juice. 
  3. Put the plain flour in a large mixing bowl and make a well in the middle. Add the eggs, softened butter and sugar. Mix well and add the yeast, stirring continuously. 
  4. Then add the raisins, currants, apples and salt and allow the batter to rise for 45 minutes in a warm place, covering with a tea towel.

Apple pie base

  1. Mix the ingredients together to make a crumbly dough.
  2. Wrap it in cling film and leave to rest in the refrigerator for a while. 
  3. Roll the dough out and bake for 20 minutes at 180 °C.
  4. Allow the base to cool and mix into the doughnut batter in large chunks.

Dutch oliebollen

  1. Heat the oil in a chip pan until it reaches 175 °C. 
  2. Spoon the batter into the pan with an ice cream scoop.
  3. Keep turning the balls over and cook them for around 7 minutes. 
  4. Let them drain well and serve with whipped cream and cinnamon sug.
